Sound good to you? Yes. (Click here) No? (Keep Reading)
So cliché to start with an Annie Leibovitz quote, right? But that’s basically the gist of it. I started photography because it was a medium that allowed me communicate all of the beauty I was seeing in + around me. It added reverence to the ordinary parts of life that constantly had me in awe.
Once I became a mom, it was game over. How can one tiny human hold so much beauty and goodness?! (But seriously, how do they do it??) I became obsessed with trying to freeze all of the tiny details before they grew away. The rolls on the legs. The hand dimples. The bubbles at the mouth. All of it left my soul smitten!
The thing they don’t tell you about motherhood is that all of those beautiful things you start noticing on your kid are the things you start noticing in other people, too. The freckles on the shoulder, the gold flecks in the eye, tiny hand gestures. And that’s what I think you see in my work - like the photos were taken by a mother who sees all the tiny parts of you and falls in love over and over again. It’s tender. It’s vulnerable. And we have a really good time!
So now maybe you want to know a little bit about the girl behind the lens? Let’s go.
This is a tale about a girl who always found the need to infuse her world with beauty and find connection within that. Who danced as soon as she walked and filled her father’s trapper keeper with dozens of doodles of people whose heads also doubled as their bodies. She found comfort in the company of animals and was drinking coffee by the age of two. Books granted her an escape and Disney + Harry Potter convinced her that magic is real and lurking around every corner. She eventually found love in the midlands but thankfully, was brought back to her beloved mountains where she gets to raise her darling girl (September James) alongside her man (Matt). She has two pups (Winslet and Phoebe), who are currently curled up beside her. She loves the smell of old books and rain and tries to capture how things feel with a paintbrush and easel. She’s better at writing than speaking and counts going to the mountains as a spiritual experience. She’s full of whimsy and cries when things are happy or sad or just too beautiful (it might happen at your session). But most of all, she loves that you are here and letting her do one of the things she loves most - showing you the beauty that is your life.
Thanks for being here, friend.
You feel me?
I want my clients to see the connection that they feel on a daily basis in my images. I want the images to reflect the most real and honest parts of their lives, not just the highlight reel. Because isn’t that what this is all about? Letting ourselves be seen? That’s where the good stuff is - in the real, everyday moments with our favorite people (and yes, pets are people, too).
